In this blog post, I will outline my motivation for choosing medicine, my academic plan, my post-graduation goals, and my values.
Motivation for Pursuing Medicine (Reasons for Choosing This Major)
When I was in middle school, I was hospitalized due to a traffic accident. During my stay, I closely observed the relationship between doctors and patients, which led me to admire the medical profession. After being discharged in good health, I resolved to become a doctor capable of providing the highest standard of medical care. I aspire to become a doctor who respects patients as individuals, acts ethically, and possesses a strong sense of responsibility, and I wish to begin that journey at your institution.
I believe that a doctor’s practice must be rooted in genuine “humanity.” I believe that one must first become a “cultured person” and a “well-rounded individual” through diverse education in order to practice true medicine. I wish to receive your university’s true education and become a genuine medical professional. While medicine is undoubtedly a difficult field to study, it is certainly possible to learn it. I believe the challenge lies not in learning, but in putting that knowledge into practice. If admitted to your university, I aspire to become a medical professional who puts learning into practice.
Academic Plan and Goals
Upon admission to your university, I will diligently study the courses required for basic medical competence and the foundational disciplines of medicine. I will study a wide range of fields, including the treatment and prevention of various diseases, and build the most fundamental knowledge and general education required to become a doctor.
In addition to my major studies, I plan to study English diligently, as it is essential for my field of study. I also intend to actively participate in study groups as part of my extracurricular activities. By working together with seniors and peers on studies that are difficult to tackle alone, I hope to study more efficiently and build broad and diverse interpersonal relationships.
I have heard that your department fosters diverse specializations through interdisciplinary and integrative education that transcends the confines of specific fields. The fact that your university provides students with annual opportunities for overseas clinical training through international exchange agreements with countries such as Germany and the United States was a key factor in my decision to apply. I wish to fully experience the vast world of medicine while studying at prestigious overseas universities that have sister-school agreements with your institution. With a strong determination and a diligent attitude, I will do my utmost to achieve my goals.
Post-Graduation Plans
Based on a broad understanding of humanity and society, as well as a spirit of service, I aspire to become a physician who can efficiently contribute to the health and well-being of the local community. I possess the unwavering will and perseverance necessary to turn my dreams into reality. Under the guidance of your distinguished faculty and with the advice of senior students, I aim to grow into an outstanding physician. In particular, I aspire to become a pediatrician who heals sick children.
My dream is to become a leader in pediatrics and have my research findings and surgical techniques recognized at international academic conferences. I want to live as a true humanitarian who practices medicine not merely as a means to make money by flaunting an elite academic background, but with a heart that truly cares for sick children.
I believe that doctors, more than anyone else, must possess sound judgment. I often reflect on the fact that, as a practitioner of medicine, one needs a sound conscience, compassion for patients, and a sense of mission. In the future, I hope to be remembered by many patients not just as a doctor who practices medicine, but as one who practices the art of healing.
Self-Introduction (View of Life, Values)
On my desk, a faded motto reading “Do your best, and leave the rest to heaven” is still firmly affixed. It represents the attitude of always doing one’s best in the tasks entrusted to one, and then leaving the rest to heaven. In fact, when I entered high school, I sometimes wasted time without a clear purpose or effort.
However, I realized once again that “if I do not do my best in my current position, I will not grow,” and I studied diligently while reflecting on this ancient saying, “Do your best and leave the rest to heaven.” Thanks to these efforts, I was able to maintain my position as the top student in the school even while serving as student council president.
Now, I believe in the truth that if I do my best in everything, I will eventually see the fruits of my labor, and I feel a deep sense of fulfillment from faithfully fulfilling the roles entrusted to me. I vow to myself that, for as long as I live, I will devote my unceasing effort and passion to whatever I can do.
