In this blog post, I will naturally explain my motivations for pursuing dentistry, my academic plans, my career goals after graduation, and my personal introduction.
Motivation for Pursuing Dentistry
As a child, I enjoyed taking apart and reassembling the parts of a wind-up toy bus that moved when placed on the floor. Rather than scolding me, my parents joined me in these experiences, which stimulated my intellectual curiosity. I have fond memories of family trips to mountains and valleys, where I would take photos of fascinating insects, observe them for hours, and then set them free.
Despite my naturally curious nature, I was hospitalized following a traffic accident during elementary school. While visiting the dentist to correct my dislocated jaw, I had the mysterious experience of feeling myself recover through the power of various dental instruments, and even the psychological trauma I had suffered at the time of the accident was healed. I strongly felt that the power of doctors—who do their utmost for patients and provide the best medical care—played a significant role in allowing me to dream of the future with a healthy body.
I became interested in the profession of a doctor who treats the sick, and as I developed a specific admiration for the profession of a dentist, I developed a dream of pursuing a degree in dentistry. I aspire to become a dentist who respects patients as individuals and acts with unwavering ethics and a strong sense of responsibility, and I wish to begin that journey at your university.
Academic Plan and Goals
Upon admission to your university, I will diligently study liberal arts courses to build the foundational skills required of a physician, as well as the basic sciences related to dentistry. I will study a wide range of fields, including the treatment and prevention of facial disorders, particularly those involving the face and jaw, to build the most fundamental knowledge and general education required to become a dentist.
Upon completing the pre-dental program, I will advance to the dental program, where I will diligently study foundational dental sciences such as anatomy, pathology, and surgery, and faithfully complete clinical dental training. In addition to my major studies, I plan to study English diligently, as it is essential for my field. I also intend to actively participate in study groups as part of my extracurricular activities. By collaborating with seniors and peers, I aim to tackle challenging coursework more efficiently and build a broad and diverse network of relationships. With a strong determination and a diligent attitude, I will do my utmost to achieve my goals.
Post-Graduation Plans
After completing my master’s and doctoral programs in graduate school and obtaining my degrees, I will take the national licensing exam to become a licensed dentist. Following the acquisition of my dental license, I will complete a four-year residency program to earn the specialist license I have long dreamed of.
Furthermore, grounded in a broad understanding of humanity and society and a spirit of service, I aspire to become a dentist who can efficiently contribute to the health and well-being of the local community. I possess the strong will and perseverance necessary to turn my dreams into reality. I hope to grow into an excellent dentist through the lectures of distinguished professors and the guidance of senior students.
Self-Introduction
On my desk, a faded motto reading “Jin-in-sa-dae-cheon-myeong” is still firmly affixed. It embodies the attitude of always doing my best in the tasks entrusted to me, and then leaving the rest to heaven. In fact, when I entered high school, I sometimes wasted time without a clear purpose or effort. However, I realized that “if I do not do my best in my current position, I will not grow,” and I studied diligently while reflecting on this ancient saying. Thanks to these efforts, I was able to maintain my position as the top student in the school even while serving as student council president.
Only now do I believe in the truth that if I do my best in everything, I will eventually see the fruits of my labor, and I feel a deep sense of fulfillment from faithfully fulfilling the roles entrusted to me. I pledge to myself that, for as long as I live, I will devote my unceasing effort and passion to everything I am capable of doing.
